Why I built this

He asked thousands of strangers to introduce themselves in one comment section. Thousands of them did.

They wrote out their skills, their businesses, what they’re building, in their own words, to nobody in particular.

I was genuinely inspired going through them. A whole network of people on missions, all reaching for each other, buried in a comment section where nobody can actually connect.

So I made a directory. Their own words, searchable, each card linking back to their Instagram. A better way for them to find each other.

8,124 comments read. 7,489 of them were somebody introducing what they do. The rest were shout-outs and praise.

Good day my name is Natalie and I’m a doula and community advocate in Bristol✨ I have just launched my CIC @Synergycommunitycare it will be a space owned by us, controlled by us✊🏾 it has been set up for 3 years but only just ready to go due to trying to locate the perfect space for the Synergy centre. I’m now in my second phase of raising money to secure the building. The centre will be a hub for black families in Bristol it is about supporting parents and families beyond maternity. While our work recognises the importance of Black maternal wellbeing, we also understand that families can face barriers and challenges long after the maternity journey ends. And we plan to support it ALL We support parents to navigate areas including education, SEND/SEN, health, social care, family support and other systems and institutions where families can often feel unheard, misunderstood or left to fight for the support they are entitled to. Our aim is to provide advocacy, education, guidance, signposting and community support, helping parents to better understand the systems around them, have their voices heard and feel empowered to advocate for their children and families. We recognise that navigating these systems can be exhausting , particularly when parents are repeatedly having to challenge decisions, push for appropriate support or advocate for their children’s needs. @synergycommunitycare wants to help change that. We’re building a community where parents feel supported, informed, represented and empowered, while working collaboratively with professionals, organisations and services to help create better outcomes for families. We’re keen to connect with parents, practitioners, educators, SEND professionals, community organisations, advocates and anyone who shares our vision. Through Snatched by Shuv, ( @shuv.fit ) I work predominantly with women and mums who want to rebuild their confidence, strength and relationship with their bodies, particularly after having children. My approach isn’t just about losing weight. I teach women how to eat for their goals, not against them, how to strength train effectively, build muscle, change their body composition and, most importantly, feel strong and confident in themselves again. Alongside this, I co-run Soul & Sculpt Community CIC ( @soulandsculpt ) with my business partner, Nay @ndkwellbeing Our mission is to make fitness, wellbeing and personal development accessible to women and girls, regardless of their financial circumstances. Through funding and partnerships, we’re able to provide free or subsidised programmes, including: * Soul Sessions – supporting mental health, self-development, confidence and emotional wellbeing. * Sculpt Sessions – strength-based fitness sessions designed to help women feel physically and mentally stronger. * Women’s Run Club – creating a supportive and inclusive environment for women of all abilities to get active together. * Women’s Retreats – giving women space to step away from everyday responsibilities, reconnect with themselves and focus on their wellbeing. * Community fitness and wellbeing programmes designed around the needs of local women and girls. Big respect @refusetoquit @kreptplaydirty 👏🏿 This is the kind of opportunity grassroots organisations rarely get invited into. #ThankYou 🙏🏿 After 15 years in corporate banking, I co-built @holisticwellbeinghub CIC from a volunteer-led lockdown foodbank response into a community movement powered by Jiu-Jitsu, martial arts, mentoring and brotherhood. Through @talk2abrother, we’ve built a 200+ man network and delivered International Men’s Day celebration activities for five years. @grapplewarriors connects fathers and sons, @triplemcampuk supports young people through enrichment camps, and Roll-Models develops coaches into mentors for schools and communities. Together, we’ve supported hundreds of participants, delivered thousands of coaching and mentoring hours, and created trusted spaces that build confidence, discipline, belonging, accountability and healthier relationships for men. We’ve delivered alongside @legacyyouthzone, @reedhamchildren, @barclaysuk, NHS partners and @gbtt_hq, while coaching and mentoring across and beyond London. Still largely volunteer-led. Website still pending 😅 The infrastructure is catching up with the impact. We’re looking for authentic, family-oriented and culturally grounded partners and investors to help us strengthen our systems and reach more people. Martial arts is the vehicle.
