šŸ‘‹šŸ¾ I’m Joss, founder of Jossy Cares, based in London. If you look at my journey, you’ll see quite a few titles: babysitter, ad hoc carer, professional nanny, parent coach, award-winning doula, and DJ. But above all, I am a Black man dedicated to the care, emotional well-being, and nurturing of babies and young children. In a world where seeing a Black male holding space for infants, supporting postpartum mothers, and championing early childhood development is still far too rare, this work is my absolute calling. Over 19 years in childcare, my ethos has been built on radical love ethics, deep emotional literacy, and meeting children exactly where they are—without shame. People often ask how being a DJ connects to caring for newborns, coaching parents through difficult transitions, or guiding toddlers through big feelings. The truth is, it all leads to the same place. As a nanny and babysitter, I tune in to a child’s unique rhythm, provide safety, and build a secure attachment from day one. As a doula and parent coach, I hold space for the family unit, listen without judgment, and bring calm, grounded energy to the most vulnerable seasons of life. As a DJ, I read the room, curate harmony, and create an atmosphere where people feel completely free to express themselves and connect. Rhythm, regulation, safety, and love. Whether I am behind the decks reading the frequency of a crowd or on the floor helping a baby feel safe and understood in this world, the mission never changes: creating spaces where human beings feel seen, protected, and empowered to thrive. I’m here to connect with conscious parents, educators, creative souls, doulas, and anyone passionate about redefining care, breaking generational cycles, and building community through empathy and music. @djjosssimmons / @josschoselove

I run What Are Friends For, where I interview people who aren’t necessarily in the social-media spotlight but are successful in their own fields, from childcare and writing to creative careers and grant-funded projects. The idea is to show that success looks different for everyone and that different paths can still lead somewhere meaningful. Alongside that, I’m also developing my own ready-to-drink cocktail brand. @whatarefriendsfour @whatarefriendsfour
