Why I built this

He asked thousands of strangers to introduce themselves in one comment section. Thousands of them did.

They wrote out their skills, their businesses, what they’re building, in their own words, to nobody in particular.

I was genuinely inspired going through them. A whole network of people on missions, all reaching for each other, buried in a comment section where nobody can actually connect.

So I made a directory. Their own words, searchable, each card linking back to their Instagram. A better way for them to find each other.

8,124 comments read. 7,489 of them were somebody introducing what they do. The rest were shout-outs and praise.

👋🏾 I’m Joss, founder of Jossy Cares, based in London. If you look at my journey, you’ll see quite a few titles: babysitter, ad hoc carer, professional nanny, parent coach, award-winning doula, and DJ. But above all, I am a Black man dedicated to the care, emotional well-being, and nurturing of babies and young children. In a world where seeing a Black male holding space for infants, supporting postpartum mothers, and championing early childhood development is still far too rare, this work is my absolute calling. Over 19 years in childcare, my ethos has been built on radical love ethics, deep emotional literacy, and meeting children exactly where they are—without shame. People often ask how being a DJ connects to caring for newborns, coaching parents through difficult transitions, or guiding toddlers through big feelings. The truth is, it all leads to the same place. As a nanny and babysitter, I tune in to a child’s unique rhythm, provide safety, and build a secure attachment from day one. As a doula and parent coach, I hold space for the family unit, listen without judgment, and bring calm, grounded energy to the most vulnerable seasons of life. As a DJ, I read the room, curate harmony, and create an atmosphere where people feel completely free to express themselves and connect. Rhythm, regulation, safety, and love. Whether I am behind the decks reading the frequency of a crowd or on the floor helping a baby feel safe and understood in this world, the mission never changes: creating spaces where human beings feel seen, protected, and empowered to thrive. I’m here to connect with conscious parents, educators, creative souls, doulas, and anyone passionate about redefining care, breaking generational cycles, and building community through empathy and music. @djjosssimmons / @josschoselove
