Why I built this

He asked thousands of strangers to introduce themselves in one comment section. Thousands of them did.

They wrote out their skills, their businesses, what they’re building, in their own words, to nobody in particular.

I was genuinely inspired going through them. A whole network of people on missions, all reaching for each other, buried in a comment section where nobody can actually connect.

So I made a directory. Their own words, searchable, each card linking back to their Instagram. A better way for them to find each other.

8,124 comments read. 7,489 of them were somebody introducing what they do. The rest were shout-outs and praise.

The directory

Straight to your inbox

New people, new missions, and anything worth passing on. Occasional, not spam.

“This is what the internet should be for.”

Hello, we are a community for black and brown women, we focus on creating wellness events, speaking engagements, workshops in real life and online to help improve their wellness and mental health. I am a mental health practitioner who has worked in mental health for many years in the NHS. So our goal is to include black and brown women in the wellness spaces where we have for so long been excluded ❤️ join our community or connect with us ❤️

Massive this is 💯 My journey hasn’t been linear, and I’m beginning to realise that’s actually my strength. From education, wellbeing and personal development to coaching, community, empowerment and neurodiversity, every part has shaped who I am and what I’m passionate about. I’m now bringing those pieces together to create something uniquely mine, rooted in where I’m from and focused on helping people grow, thrive and become their best selves. I’m looking to connect with people who are creating, collaborating and doing meaningful work. From the West Midlands to the world 🌏 If our paths could connect, let’s talk.

Hi, I’m Valerie 👋🏾 Midwife, Nurse & founder of Serenity Baby Bloom 🌸 @serenitybabybloom I founded Serenity Baby Bloom because I don’t believe women and families should simply survive pregnancy, childbirth and the transition into parenthood. They deserve to feel informed, heard, respected, safe and supported. Serenity Baby Bloom is for all women and families. As a woman of colour myself, I also understand why representation matters and why some women can feel overlooked or unheard within maternity care. If you’re navigating pregnancy and want support that sees you as a whole person not just another appointment or number that’s the space I created Serenity Baby Bloom to be. A place to ask questions, understand your options, build confidence in your voice and feel supported alongside your maternity care. Because we prepare so much for the baby but I never want us to forget the woman becoming a mother and the family becoming parents. 🤎 If you’re pregnant, preparing for birth, navigating life with a newborn, or know someone who could use extra support, I’d love for you to connect with us at. And if you work across women’s health, maternal health or community impact, I’d love to connect too. 🤍@serenitybabybloom 🌸

Another amazing woman I’d love to highlight is my friend Shan @Shan_shestride. Shan is a passionate advocate for women’s mental health and uses her own experiences to create conversations around issues that are often difficult to talk about, particularly postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis. She also represents Mrs Jamaica United Nations, using her influence to champion women’s empowerment and bring greater awareness and compassion to important issues. I’d also love for you to connect with my friend Shanami @lifewithshanami, who recently took a big leap of faith following redundancy after building her career in the tech space. Shanami has such a wealth of skills and experience to offer. She’s incredibly creative and is currently on a journey of self-discovery. Anyone who has seen her host knows she has a natural ability to bring a room together, create an atmosphere and connect people. She’s also passionate about supporting women, creating spaces for connection and using her own experiences to encourage others through difficult seasons and journeys of self-discovery. She’s a faith based woman who brings so much light to her community, including me. Shanami is also an advocate for the sickle cell community, using her own experiences to speak out, highlight the challenges faced by those living with sickle cell and raise awareness of the needs within our healthcare system. She’s genuinely multi-talented, so if you’re in tech, events, women’s empowerment, creative spaces or community, definitely connect with Shanami. My friend Arcadia @carino_noah is another woman I’d love to highlight. She’s so multi-talented and always on the go, and I’ve loved watching her put together her own beauty space, @lumierelounge.uk, where she offers a range of beauty treatments for women, with a particular focus on her love for nail care. If you’re looking for someone who’s passionate about beauty and creating a lovely space for women, definitely check her out and follow her journey.
